View Full Version : Masking a HPI Ford GT Body

I just bought a new Hpi ford gt body and I was wondering if I wanted to do paint scheme other than white stripes whether I'd have to make my own masks for the side stripes and stuff. (ex. black body w/silver stripes) If anyone has done this and has changed those colors I need some guidance.

I thought for sure the body came with external decals for that stripe? The easiest way is to use some masking tape and put two strips down the center.

mask the inside of the body (where the stripes will be) and then spray your black. after that is completly dry, remove the mask that you had put down and then spray silver. keep in mind, your painting from the inside of the body. this will give you black body, with silver stripe(s) down it.

They do come with it, look closer at the edges, I see the side stripes and the top stripes they are white. I think what he was asking was is there a way to make them another color. Damit, I will have to insert my foot into my mouth now. I just read the rest of the posts. And now back to our regularly schedualed program allready in progress

Use the stickers on the inside of the body but reverse the left and right. As long as you use light coats for the main body color it shouldn't bleed through. Or you can put the stickers on the outside and use them as guides for using tape.

they also come with a set of blue decals...and strips...
