I just wanted to rant a little about lexan bodies. I handle 15-25 bodies a month and about 30 % of them have major defects. Losi is by far the worst, and that suprises me giving the quality of every other part they sell. Pro line seems to have 95% of there stuff together, but I still see alot of scratches and bubbles on the other 5 % Parma's lexan is great but I think they give bums a bunch of mad dog 20/20 and let them cut out the window masks...... I just got 3 J concepts bodies and they appear to be sweet with no defects. Anybody else have this problem? Stan www.1stplacerace.com

If you just want to advertise that you are painting bodies, then just do it! but you probably should do it in the paint section

I guess it depends on what your buying the bodies for. I dont think losi had show cars in mind when they produced their bodies.
If you really want a nice 1/10 scale body, buy one from Tamiya. Tamiya was first a model company, and thats also why many people like them. They look fantastic on a shelf. They cost 40 bucks for a reason. ;)

What's up, Stan? You wouls know more about bodies than me. You see more in a week than I do in a year.
BTW...I was thinking of coming out to your track next weekend. Are you going to be around?

I've had great results using HPI <-great stickers & masks*, some Yokomo bodies are Okay..as are Pro Line. I agree that Tamiya makes the best, even thought I've only had one thus far.

Um team triple six..... dude I dont need to advertise that I paint bodies. I have a 1 month waiting list and its just a hobby , not a job, I maintain my website for the enjoyment of others and encourage people to copy my work if they so desire.I have not accepted a body order in 3 weeks. I post on other forums but XRC has been giving me the best magazine for a while now and I thought I should start posting here instead, even if there arent alot of members yet. This thread comes out of frustration wih the quality of bodies in comparison to all other R/C products. They seem to be an afterthought for the manifacturers. Im a dedicated losi guy, I own /have owned the JRX 2, GTX, NXT,XXXNT, xx, xxx, xxt, xxxt and mini t. Thats why im amazed and confused about the bodies.
Forgive me for trying to post a thought inducing thread. I suck, my paint work sucks
dont buy or look at my stuff..... I suck.....just like a poorly molded lexan body.......
Skeeno, The track is pretty wet, call me saturday night.

Hey 666 (mafia? ) We can be friends after all..... Sorry to get all pissy but I am really not all about me, I run a FREE racing club, although we dont have enough guys to race
:( and I really dont get competitive about my painting , I wont even paint for guys in reno, near my home.I tell them to go see john at AMS hobbies first. I dont claim to be the best or even close to it. I painted dozens of my own bodies since 1986 and pretty much sucked at it untill 2000, when I learned to use patience and a exacto knife/airbrush. The only real reason I paint is because I can spend all of the money on my rc addiction, without spending any "family" money or using a credit card. I am no artist, I cant draw my way out of a paper bag. The only thing I really take pride in is I let my paint dry properly and my bodies will stay painted untill they fall to peices, and even the pieces still have the paint on them! I really would like to help people though, Ill tell you secrets that will P!$$ off most paint for cash guys.........

Look all I thought was that you were trying to take a cheap way of advertiseing and was scared to do it. Whoopty do. I didnt know you were being honest so I was just pointing you in the right direction is all. I never said you sucked or that you couldnt paint, I never said anything but that to go to another forum if you wanted to advertise because I thought you wanted some business. Thats it and you can quit with the different names, its not 36 mafia or 666 or triple six. its team3six! nothing else. thanks and I will stay outta your forum

Hey Stan... Great bodies. I have noticed some people get a little touchy in these forums, so don't sweat the small stuff (no offense to anyone) . I had one guy call me Anti-American because I asked what the big deal with mini's is... Some of the guys here had my back though.. Anyway...
I would be interested in learning how to paint with an airbrush. I used to do the spray can thing, but kinda limited as to what you can do with them. I bought a couple cheap airbrushes to start out with so I could learn, but nobody to teach me. I can only research so much on the web before I get the dry eye syndrom fom looking at the screen. Do you have a web site or another forum where you post "How To's"? Perhaps recommended reading :D

Hi all,
I never had any problems with ProLine bodies but I had problems with HPI.
HPI coming bent and most of the time the window mask are trouble that I need to create new ones.
I think the problem is from the dealer and not the producer.
I mainly get ProLine bodies directly from the distributor and I know he keeps them in good condition.
Gabby.

There are a bunch of how to pages around, I have found them on accident but never really took note of there address, If I run across them again I will start a thread.
The airbrush use is really the last of your worries. Its all in the masking. If you cant get a nice tight design with cans, a airbrush is not going to advance your cause. When you start here are a few tips..
Dont try to mask super complex designs right off.
If you are using liquid masking make sure you use 3 heavy coats, or 5-6 light coats. Masking that is too thin will be almost impossible to remove.
If airbrushing stick to Faskolors or createx, dont try to use Fancy paint like chrome or color change untill you have mastered using less sensitive paint
What do I mean by less sensitive paint? Chrome is very likley to peel up when you remove masking, I usually have to go back and cut the window masking lines so the chrome does not lift. Color change requires a good eye for coverage and will look spotty if you dont get proper coverage.
Paint for friends or for auction.
I did not get decent at airbrushing by painting 1 body a month or year.
Even a "hack" paint job will sell for the cost of the body. Paint a body, auction it off. You will most likley get enough money to buy another body and paint. If you are lucky you might even get enough to buy a Iwata airbrush! I like the HP-C and Ecipse airbrushes myself.
Use Faskoat or Createx Matte coat to finish your painted body. NEVER back Faskolor or createx with spray can white or silver. There is a good chance your paint will crack if backed with spray cans.
Some people have trouble with "misting" Overspray clinging to undesireable parts of the body, making smudges or poor fades. A light coat of Createx matte coat or faskoat BEFORE you spray your color will solve this problem as well as provide a much tougher paint job when it is cured.
