I can get a metallic look by painting a translucent/ transparent colour then a silver right?

Yea, a little but chrome works the best, although it is a complete pain to use.

lol i'll just stick to the basics cause im just a noobie. Is there any way i could get a trick paintjob with spraycans? rc bodies are way harder than scale models. lol

Absolutly. The only real important thing is to do a good job masking.

i think angle and distance of the can also makes a difference.

Well yea, but if you have some sick flames, drips, racing stripes. masked you can paint with solid colors and still have a sick paint job. Spray real light coats. Cans actually make some sweet fades.

rc bodies are way harder than scale models. lol
I find it eassyer to paint on the in-side of the body. It's only harder if you want to paint a person. You can see what you are doing alot quicker then if you paint on the out-side.
It's only harder because you have to use extreamly light coats, unlike on models.

i find it easier to paint at the end because you dont need to mask anything and just use the other colours as a mask.

well im almost done painting my first body... it turned out a little different than i had thought. :p

If your air brushing then you get some Fasglitter and Faskoat made by Parma. You mix the glitter in with the faskoat. If you are useing cans the there are some metal flake paints.

So far i've accidentally forgot to mask off the windows... so now i've got tinted windows. :D
