Let's start the June best paint contest !?....

I can't wait !!.......................

I will kick of this month with the first entry !

Some guy asked me to paint a protoform mazda 6 with the looks of a F1 Mclaren/Mercedes design.
It took me a lot of work and even more creativity to change a mazda touringcar into a McLaren F1 car !... but i really liked this job.... it's something else after al those tribals and flames.

Everything is painted !.. no stickers

I used Alclad 2, Faskolor, black, red, white, charkoal and auto air chameleon (for the corbon effect on the spoiler)

The drivers name is Jaap.. so i changed Johnny Walker into Jaapie Walker to make it really personal.

Sweet paint MUSTANG!!!
Here is one I did for a customer , Proline Escalade
faskolor lime green pearl, with touch of black and custom lettering. I will post one more pic of this since he requested tinted windows late last night.

Hey all I'm new to these forums so forgive me if I'm asking this in the wrong thread.
Do ya'll use a decal cutter to make your own paint mask for these logos? If so what brand or where can I find one. The ones I searched for were more for commercial use I think...Priced at about $600 on up.
Thanks

You draw them out, then you cut them by hand out of masking tape or liquid mask. You don't need a decal cutter to make masks.

Here is a link on how to ues liquid masking film:

Hmm, well you have more patience than me then. I've just heard of some people using thier own decal cutter after they've drawn thier design in Illustrator or Coral Draw. For what I want to do is too small to cut out of liquid mask or tape mask. I still have a jar of liquid mask laying around because I can't wait for it to dry.

Big? No, the body is just resting on wheels. Look closely, there's no chassis.

Yeah, sorry I did not have my truck but I had some wheels sitin around thought it would ad to the effect.
Well I can't wait to get the pics of this trimmed out, so here is a preview and I will post some once it is trimmed and put on a car.
Done for my LHS Acura NSX - "faskolor" Lime green pearl and blue carbon fiber, trans orange with black and white, metalic blue "tamiya", oh yeah and "spaz stix"chrome,

Hmm, well looks like i am cutting it kinda close on the entry! Anyway the body is a Pro-line crowd pleazer for the jammin, I used Faskolor paint, Charcoal, Fasflorescent Green, White, Fasflorescent pink. Most of these colors were mixed with each other for a deep shade of green and a light pink which transfers into a darker pink.

The bleeds around the front will be cut right off the body, the support for the front bumper of a mostly custom XTM mammoth needs to go there, so i wasn't to careful on the masking

No offence to HRDforever or (I cant remember who it was that Dan asked to Co-host this) but they are never really here to do any hosting of what appears to be HRDforever's respectivly handed over competition. Maybe Stan@firstplacerace, Pyromike, or someone else should take over this compitition. Just my opinion but someone who is here all the time who interacts with the forums should be the judge.

I was just giving my opinion. I don't want to be the judge because when I do start painting I would like to enter and I thought it to be unfair that if someone is the judge they should not be allowed to enter. I thought when HRD asked nitroracerx to be a co-judge it was to allow one to judge so the other could enter. Please dont take offence to that guys. Stan or Mustang yeah that would be cool. I think if one of you guys asked Jeff to help out and award a prise i think he would do it. If not maybe DuBro might be intrested. There main factory is near me and I could ask them. If someone can attempt to get intouch with HRD and start from there and see whats up? It would be nice to have a contest running steedy

It would be nice to have Stan or Mustang in charge (Stan would be better because he said that he doesn't want to enter anymore). Jeff or even Dave would be a good choice for a judge also. The bigest problem is that HRD is still in high school. I can help out also, just as lon as I can enter every so often (If I ever get around to painting another shell again).

I guess we will be starting fresh. :)

I am truely sorry about the contest, I guss that I will take a break, whoever whould like to run the contest can. I am sorry for the innconvience about this, I will be on once and a while in the future, but my attention has been diverted to 1:1 scale cars lately, and I do not have much money left. I have not worked on my RC cars for a while, but I plan to do in a while. I am sorry for causing an innconvience, and If you need help, you may contact me anytime. I just do not have the time right now, and I have not been on the computer as much as I used to. Enjoy the contests...

Sorry...

Nitrox7,
My last comment was not meant to be taken as harsh as it may have sound. Sorry!! I was just trying to point out that as I understood the May contest had not been judged and now June was about over "now is over" There are some people who paint bodies just to be judged and see how well they could do. Maybe as a confidence boost in their painting abilities. So it was only to say someone needs to step in the position soon. Right?

So with that said is there an official judge now and is there a offical winner for the May and June contests .

I was asked to judge for two months -March/April-. I did the best I could under the circumstances. Even went so far as to gather several R/C Paint enthusiasts to join me in the judging ->as to have several viewpoints, be through, and most of all prompt!<- It's a shame 'my system' didn't work out better than it did. I'd not been invited to judge any other contests, sorry! I also couldn't help but notice folks dropping out of the contest when it was noted I would be judging as well. -that can't be a good thing, I found it insulting.- Hopefully the next individual judging the contests will suit the group much better.
I'm one of the folks you're referring to that would like to simply paint a few bodies for the contest and such -and to make my/our cars look as I/we wish of course!-. Even though my paint work isn't all that great -judging from my experience here-...I still enjoy trying. (Yes..I could use a confidence boost!) Don't worry about being harsh...seems it's become the norm here to post less than complimentary remarks and such at each other..hence my lack of interest/posts. We would all fare far better if we chose to share 'secrets' and tricks. Possibly compliment the newbs a touch more to help them motivate, and maybe even teach us all something new! If nothing else it would be nice to feel welcome and part of a group of clever, artistic, individuals that share the hobby, and the same passion for paint as I. Maybe one of these days...in a land far, far, away?...
Y'all have fun!

NX7,

It may be just a coincidence that guys didn't post anything new while you were in as the judge. Summertime gets busier with kids home from school, etc.. I have no time for painting and RC these days, it seems.

As for seeking more tips and secrets, visit CFX paintworks website. It is a very painter oriented site, with MANY true airbrush artists dispalying their works and sharing how to do the techniques. I have seen some of the best, if not The Best RC paint work posted there.

NX7 you can still be a judge if you would like, just that we relly didn't know what was going on. HRD has been missing for awile, we didn't know that you wernt asked to judge any, but we will be starting fresh. So it would be great if you and Stan could be in charge of the contest (the more people the better), then if for some reason one can't get on-line for some reason then there would be two people able too judge instead of 1. (if 1 can't judge then there is always the other on who can.)

for everyone:
Now that we are starting fresh, can this be ran in a more profesinal maner? Like have set rules on how things should be judge., and maybe even a pro and newbe calss.

I guess thoese will be the winners, unless someone wants to judge the contests. By the looks of it they will be official if we all agree that they are official or if we want to have it rejudged.
It would be eassyer to just call it as is, but thats just my $.02

WOW! I have to say this sure took a different direction then I thought it would. I have to agree that the XRC staff should take some intrest in this thread. So which is it to be in control of who chooses who to judge? When I first joined this forum Derek was the judge and because he had no time then the judging was left to HRD, then HRD elected NX7 to help out and well it is obvious that NO ONE is really giving a craps ass. Im sorry but that is too bad! all these guys want is a time for glory, their prospective 15 min. of fame. and there has been nothing to bring in the people who want to challenge. No Prizes, No Time, I have to say I agree, maybe this is not the best spot to compete in a painting contest.
