Pick a judge and like the last time I said this...I need that judge to email me with the winner's information so we can hook them up with the 6 month subscription and Jeff can send the HT Paint DVD. I never got that in the past.
We got the word from the D-Man. :D :D :D :D

Wish I'd been given that much info when assigned the task of judge!! That might explain the lack of staff support?? I've never sent the results in. I figured the staff would check the thread, like the rest of us... My apologies.... :o

So I take it the last two months are just "SOL" Well that really sucks. Best of luck to all those who enter and better luck to those who win.

I agree. So much for the winner being put in the mag. Maybe if I was a second rate model with a " butter face " ( everything looks great but her face ) I could get my "body" in the mag. Laziest damn forum in r/c. The mag is great but the forum..............

Stan, for what it is worth. I have self elected you as the new judge. I believe there is favorable opinions of the same from others as to what I have seen. Look! Just to add another point here. If there is an older member who can partake more time to be the judge and we all set aside the past problems with this thread never really being properly handled for its intended use. well then this contest can again happen. Derek has stated to choose another member to be judge and when the winner has been choosen to notify him to recieve the 6 month extention and a DVD. I guess the last couple of months have not been sent anything so to avoid problems, maybe someone should notify Derek about the other 2 past winners. Hopefully that will rectify the problem. I would hate to see this forum and others take a nose dive because of some technical dificulties and the lack of intrest brought on by them. So many new members are comming over because of skinny and realizing for the first time with open eyes what a great mag XRC is. maybe that same thrill can be implimented back into the forums with a great contest that follows through.

I would agree with that, and if you want more people to enter the paint contest we have to stay professinal with these contest.

So who wants to email Derek the winners of the May, and June contests?

Stan if you would like to be the judge go ahead. If you need any help just PM some people to see if they can help you out on the judgeing. :)

I think nitroracerx7 still wants to judge. If not I would be glad to Judge as long as we could set some ground rules. Here is how I would do it.

Bodies would be judged in the following areas.

1 Overall design and color. Does it look good and match up with the body style well?

2 Cleanliness of lines and fades. Free of Bleeds, spiderwebs, other "mistakes"

3 Difficulty of masking and paint application.

Scored on a 15 point scale. Highest score possible is 45 points.

Every entry gets judged.

Painter MUST provide body scale and all painting and masking materials used.

Example 1/18 scale , liquid masking, xxxmain picture glue, photos from XRC mag, faskolor paints.

Exact colors are not required, just the type of paint, I will let you keep your color secrets if you wish.

YOU WOULD BE DOCKED POINTS IF I COULD NOT SEE AT LEAST 90% OF THE BODY. AT LEAST 2 GOOD PHOTOS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED.

I would monitor and judge in a timly fashon.

I guess I will judge this month unless somebody says different.

That's cool, and those rules seem pretty nice as well. If it is alright, I would like to design the paint contest starter page for the competitions. I will attach it and if you want to use it, just copy and save it in your computer. Ill get back to you.

I think it would be great with some flames on one side, and the other side has some rips with some carbon fiber on the other side, and add some drips or melting substance along the top then it would be great.

That would be cool 3six, I think it's a great idea and you can add some of the painting sttles that are out there. Well now I have to wait and see how it turns out, good luck on the design.

Hey, Buggy dude, C3pyo and Gasman, I PM'd you guys with some info requests reguarding your entries.

Here are a couple more Rules I would like to add

1 You should be the painter of the body

2 It should not appear in any current contests on other web sites

3. it should have been painted within the last year.

PyroMike
07-11-2006, 05:42 PM

Can I ask why? You can enter madels in as many contests you want through the year, is't it the same thing, or can it be enterd in another one after the current one ends?

I'm just woundering, but wouldn't that cause people not to enter or is it that you can't enter it in the same months contest elsewhere until one of them ends?

Some people like me like to go to CFX and enter there to get an expert opion. ;)

Im not gonna check, but it would be in good taste to wait untill the contest is over at the other sites before entering here. Im flexable, not a paint contest Nazi We can throw that rule out..
I also would like to limit the contest to 3 entries per person if that is OK.

I would like to have 2 classes but we need to get this rolling again first.

Just start layering them one by one. :) No matter on how hard the paint job is you still have to layer the paint to get the effect that you are looking for, and take your time. Use thin layers of paint then check it with some paper (white or black depending on the color of the shading).

OK, no sence in crying now about spilled milk. There were alot of people who felt they were shafted by the contest and alot of people who did not feel it was run fairly. Now we can spend all day long for months complaining about the way the contest was handled then and the way it is going to be handled now. Let us all please just start over from the begining and let the past be in the past and Please for god sakes give Stan@firstplacerace a chance to run this contest. If we all just put everything aside and let the past probs go, we all are sure to enjoy what is offered by stan. And I for one have to agree that his rules seem very fair. I am sure he will concider making classes for entries. but if he does not, learn from the better painters and do your own. XXXmain makes a wonderful video that even the spray can painter can make into a nice paint job.

Did you use liquid mask?
I like that "check it with some paper" tip too. I have a problem with overspray all the time,
maybe i'm applying too thick of layers. How thin do you go when your airbrushing small details like that?

I don't know if Gasman used liquid mask or not. From what I know is when you spray fine lines you should thin your paint down to the same density of water, as to your normal density of milk (it may not sound like much, but that makes a huge difference in how the paint flows)
Also you should never get your fades or shodws it one pass, thats why the papper trick comes in handy.

This is a rattle can job in Outlaw black with neon green flames outlined in pactra purple that was painted by hand, nothing else! it is my most favorite because I did it by hand and was extra carefull in how it was layed out. it is a proline Mazda 6 body and recently was in the readers ride issue. Sorry to say and this is very much true that I have since sold that streetforce gp2 with the body and really miss it much. whom ever has her I hope it was a good RC to own and you have'nt beaten her too much.
