Get a better cam. It looks good, but would look better with some high res pics. ;)

I also think that the flames counter the rest of the shell. (they take away from the over all look ;) )

Stan, please don't take any of the other post into consideration when judgeing. :)

nick-rc
08-01-2006, 06:22 PM
when i upload my pix and open them with paint they are really large so i have to size them down and they come out crummy like that..
i dont know how to fix that.

Stan@1stPlaceRace
08-01-2006, 06:44 PM
Nick, it looks like your lines are really jagged, Is that the camera or flaws in the body?

PyroMike
08-01-2006, 07:07 PM
Once they are small don't try to make them bigger. Use sizes that are the same when you stretch them i.e. 50% and 50% normal size (if its under 100% they will be smaller, my avatar came out fine after I stretch/skew it). See if you can upload them when you post up on here, just make them smaller if they dont fit.

Thats all I can think of right now.

thats from shrinking the pics on paint.

Nick,

Upload your pics to Photobucket or something similar. At photobucket, I upload them full size and they resize them to 1mb. THen just link to them.

Just a little advice. unless you are a serious painter and doing up bodies all the time is your thing. I would propose that you enter 1 body at a time, just to keep the contest going. It would suck to enter three shells in hopes of winning only to get slamed at the end by 1 shell that is the bomb.

GASMAN
08-03-2006, 03:55 PM
ya if you paint every once in a while, but i paint every weekend.thats the only way you get better. :Di already have a killer scheme for the last one, just have to put it on paper.the best for last :D

Here is my latest paint work. It is a 1/12 trinity body painted with Createx transparent yellow, Createx black, Createx white, Faskolor Pearl charcoal, faskolor tint, alclad chrome.

All handcut LMF

Now for the paint.

Here you can see where I used the charcoal to put just a bit of carbonfibre look in the tips of the black area. I also used fascolor tint to shadow the black tips onto the yellow.

ATTENTION OUT OF COUNTRY (USA) PARTICIPANTS.I regret to inform you that the free 6 month subscription is not available to you if you win. Here is the quote I got via email from Derek B.

It’s for US subscriptions only, or we can set them up digitally when that goes into affect. For now they’ll only be getting the “prizes”

Im just the judge. You need to talk to derek about XRC policy.
Just be carefull, I would not be supprised to see the whole contest idea canned if they start getting a bunch of crap about something they dont really care much about anyways.

No, No, don't get me wrong. That last post from me was supposed to be kinda sacastic/upset. I was pretty much saying I feel sorry for someone who puts so much into a paint job only to get a hand for a job well done. You know if it is alright with you, if someone was a winner from this last comp. who is from out of the country, I would like to offer a prize for winning the comp. I would be more than happy to help out this comp. in anyway to secure it's motivation.

My august entry

This body I finished up this morning for my dad's Mini LST

fasflourescent yellow
faswhite
fasblack ( window trim )
and the blue doesnt have a name , its kinda a combination of fasflourescent blue, fasblue and fasglow and their might be a few other blue's mixed in, its kinda whatever I had left over, lol.

Not bad for a 16 year old, aye? haha

A word of advice, your age means nothing when it come to art. And you if you do want to say how old you are then do that somewhere else (like the custom paint thread), but not in a contest.

As for the shell, It is by far the best one you have painted, maybe next time try some drop shadows

Oh and how many entries are you allowed per month? Just 1? I painted a N-Rusty body 2 weeks ago and if i'm allowed to enter it , it'll give me incentive to actualy mount the dang thing. LOL

Drift, it looks good. On your next one use some Spaz stix transparnt paint yellow and red (or color of your choice to get colored fire), then add your licks in useing white, then do the next color, then back it with black (you can use other colors if you like, but will look the best).

yeah working on a mini t body for freeform was a major PITA, I tried to do ghost flames on my newest slot car body but that being like 1/27th scale I think they are, it wasnt happening, lol, I couldnt get the airbrush in close enough to get a good flame and they were too big and didnt look good so I just make it a purple to white transfer kinda body. Cool thing though about them being $3 now is that theres no limit on them being 5 per customer.

Quote from markarch in feb paint contest........... I wont forget .........
"What a complete waste of time.......... I'm glad most of my attention has gone to the more serious paint contests lateley. I just checked back to see if there was anything worth while here and I must say I am extremely dissapointed. Two color flame jobs with far too heavy outlines don't say winner to me......just boring. They don't even inspire painters to try something new or creative. The only thing they inspire me to do is quit wasting my time checking this site out. I'll promptly be removing this forum from my favorites."

Good memory......
It's about time these paint contests got a little more serious. Thus the entry. I thought the bickering and child's play was over. I guess you just reminded me that this is still a wast of time.....Entering the contests for feedback is the bottom line. If you are not going to respect me to even provide that ........well........

Great judging never the less. There were some really awesome entries this month. congrats to the winners. Nice work!

Hey STAN, It is definately COOL with me. that was my first real paint job and your right, I should remember that this is a paint contest and not a modification contest. I guess I was kinda not too happy with the colors and I was trying to convince myself that it was good, even though it matched the swatch for the marble I was trying to get, I figured the extra mile in making a grill, tinting the windows, and a wood bed would tip the scale. But man this compitition rocks now and honestly there were some really great paint works this month. Congrads to XAC and everyone else, dont let not winning the contest keep you from entering. just because you don't win it actually shows that 1. this contest inspires new idea's, 2. we all get to see your growth in your painting with each attemt and 3. Don't be a Norm, lol

JGO, I hope that's going on an electric, because I'd sure hate to see a bunch of big holes in that shell! I really like the windows/frames.
Awesome work! Do you do t-shirts also by any chance? I ask because of the wing lettering looks well practiced!

thanks alot man. well the lettering was cut out by hand. t-shirts i havent done one yet maybe one day :D thanks again
