welll paint from the inside. be sure to wash first, use what you perfer to mask "liquid or tape" use marker on outside of body ONLY IF THERE IS PROTECTIVE FILM to get your own design. Take your time and no worries the first body rarely comes out lookin professional. But DONT give up and keep practiceing. ASK ?'s if you need help.

RC painting is a pretty specific craft and there are sooooo many things to learn.

If you haven't seen it already, take a visit to www.cfxpaintworks.com and look around. The forums there are highly technical and instructional. The members are very helpful to painting subject matter.

JT, I have found that you can use sharpie on the bare shell, and then use denatured alcohol to remove it. It can get messy if you have to revise it too many times, and then it begins to stain the lexan. But if you keep it to one drawing, paint it, and then clean it off, you can get away with it, especially if you are painting darker colors. I also find it helps to draw with red or green fineline sharpie versus black wide tips. It cleans off easier.

whats the point davecnitrors4, I mean if you have to go back and clean vs pulling off plastic sheet . Just seems lie alot of extra work. I guess if you had a shell that does not come with protective film then sure that would be helpful. But not many bodies anymore come without the film. Thanks though, this is always good info since when painting things happen.

So you just put the tape in the outline that you want?

sure if thats how you want it.
Look at it this way, what ever color you put down first is the color you will see.
Do not tape over paint, only works less than half the time make you a cheat sheet. example
1 color black,
2 blue with white streaks
3 white
always start with the darkest colors first IF possible!!

I just learned how to paint 4 bodies ago and so far my stuff has really worked out. As Dave has stated. The honest to god best way to learn how to paint correctly and get ALL the info you will ever need. Goto www.cfxpaintworks.com (http://www.cfxpaintworks.com) and really check it out. I as well as dave and Pyro have all learned from the greats. This is a couple of the bodies I have painted thats to what I have learned at the website. That and TKcustoms enspired me to learn as a result of his painting skills.http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e276/storm_in027/next2test2.jpg

I've only experienced that Losi Mini T shells don't have film. Most others do.

Even with film, I still clean off marker lines to see where I'm going with trimming, and to get "wrong" lines out of there. Just DO NOT use lacquer thinner...it takes off more than the marker!!! and leaves the plastic cloudy and ruined.

Im felling a little better. it takes awhile to snap back. Plus the whole loosing stuff in a fire pretty much has whipped all my life outta me. Ill be alright though after the thanksgiving holiday. Ill get that body shipped to you after then. Thanks on the kudos. I think it was great in the begining. I think I went a little overboard adding more and more. But it was showing me that I am able to do quite alot. I just needed to work it out a little bit. Im learning more stuff from CFX all the time. I have a great new body I did that kinda leads in NEMO's style. I think it will rock. I just have to get a camera from my Dad.

Ok, I am going to make 100% sure before i would start painting body but, you paint on the inside of the body not the outside? I just want to make sure. Wouldt it be kind of hard to do that? If you paint on the inside will it look like it has been painted on the outside or will it look clear? Thanks

Yes you paint on the inside.

Nope it's not hard to paint on the inside for the most part (depends on what you are doing) as the differn't layers of paint will also act as a mask, along with your mask that you are using (tape or liquid mask).
If you paint on the inside will it look like it has been painted on the outside or will it look clear?
It will look like it was painted on the out side, as the bodies are clear, and that will act like a clear coat (the clear lexan). The lexan will stay clear as long as there is no paint there (i.e. windows), other wise it will be the color of the paint. Also to get the color you want, don't spray it all on in one coat, layer the paint coats on light (the less paint you use on each layer the better) little by little (about 3 layer or more) to get the paint where you want it (i.e. is it a solod color and you don't want your other colors bleeding through, or do you want it light (i.e. transparnet colors, or you want the backing color to change the hue of the main color).
