Well, I dont know what happened to this thread. But I see that the art of painting has surely died. Maybe it is just the name of the thread for the competition or it is simply there is no demand for painting. I would hope to see by the end of this competition some more entries.

Thats some of the nicest work I have seen in quite some time...well done obsessive, very cool and great A/B techniques too mate. Nice too see people thinking about colour themes in relation to the shape and idea of the cars flow and design.

Man I would love to enter but I have no equipment here yet...only rag tag bits and peices...shit!

I have only some simple rattle can crap and not worthy for this level. Best to get the whole kit up here and really prep it.

But if someone beats Obsessives work for quality of idea, execution, design, context, finish, technique, colour scheme, flow and match of the colour scheme to the shell, originality - not just a copy of something else with the same stereo-typical flames and stuff; use of paint and application of paint - line quality (weight, style, format), blends, fades, swirls, dots, text/copy, icons/logos, duotones, etc....etc...etc. As well as a theme to base the idea from, I would pay good money to use a shell like that...none of this $40/60$ crap. Shells like obsessives should sell for good money.

Thus far...he would be my choice, and as a designer/ID designer thats saying something.

Lets see some quality competition...come on guys...!!!! :D :D :D :D

You really have to see his work in person...it's insanely perfect!

Go to his site and checkout the white Tazer truggy body. It is so detailed and complex that it boggles my simple mind to comprehend the effort that went into creating it.

I've told Jerry before:

it's definately one of the best pro jobs I've seen. maybe a few years of painting and I'll have that kinda skill but a year and change in I just don't have the talent to compete with that.

Notes: The colors work well with the design and really make the design pop off, It presents a look that time was taken in the design, The different look of the windows makes the body appear to be something new and so it places everything together.

Notes: The water look of the back portion of the truck was done really well along with the carbon fiber. I didnt think that would work, but it did. But then after all that design work to achieve that look, it appears you kinda drifted with the design and went astray. I see good things from ya dave, so please keep working at it and bring it.

Keep practicing and one day you too hall be a great jedi airbrush artist. Im still waiting for my saber to light up!

Notes: Fades need some work, just a bit scattered. practice a steady hand. Colors are a good flow that somehow work, but the gold trim does not seem to work with the colors. I really dig the eyes but you can do that well. I just dont think that this body should have recieved the eyes with that paint theme. Maybe some repltile skin would have pulled it all together.

Notes: I really liked this design and for good reason since I had the idea just this past year. The only problems that I am having with this is the look of too much rust. It is almost overpowering at times in the seams and at a distance you dont appreciate the time in the rust drizzle that is there. And the Brain matter at the top is so lifelike, but then you loose the appael by the tearing of the paint. I know first hand that paint tearing is hard to get it down right. I give you an A for effort but it needed a little more patience to pull it off.
