Rescue Mini R/C Speedway will be having it's annual big race, the 8th Annual Harvest Classic, on October 1st and 2nd.

This year's track was designed by recently retired, 2 time world champion Matt Francis!

You can find out more information about the event and the track at www.rescuerc.com. You can also sign-up on-line on the website, although payments will still need to be sent in by mail.

Entry deadline is September 15th. All entries received by Sept 15th will receive an event T-Shirt. Both gas and electric classes are slated to be run. Classes include: Sportsman and Expert Gas Truck, Sportsman and Expert 1/8th Scale, Stock Truck and Bugggy, Modified Truck and Buggy, 19 Turn Truck, Production Monster Truck, Unlimited Monster Truck (Truggy), and Mini-T.

We have made arrangements for special rates with a local motel. See www.rescuerc.com for details.

So...Don't procrastinate! Don't miss this event! This is, by far, the biggest race in Northern California every year.

HI Losi Mike,
I had a question...
I am not a serious racer other than beating my boss around the track!! :D
Will you be running a Novice 1/8 buggy class. I think I could handle myself in a Sportsman class, but I wasn't sure. Also I wasn't sure what the difference was for a "STOCK" and "Modified" class. I was looking for info on the web site, but didn't see anything.
Basicly I am just completing a Jammin X1-CR PRo with a REX 421BX modded by Rick at RB MODS. Jammin P-2 pipe. Not sure where this fits in.
Ok I kept on reading and saw what I think means modified is electric.. LOL not enough coffee.

Also I am coming from San Jose. I know you are East of Sacremento, but how far East?

The novice class that we will be running is only for electric 1/10th scales...Mainly, it's for the kids to run...If you're running an 1/8th scale (And a Jammin' no less with an RB motor!) you no kid! :-) (BTW, I have the same buggy...Love it!)

So, yes, I would suggest the 1/8th scale sportsman class. There will be all ranges of drivers in that class. Crashing is expected!

As for location, we are about 15-20 minute East downton Sacramento. Sacramento kind of spreads out...We're about 10 minutes from Folsom.

Ok cool.. My only concern was driving in traffic. I know how to be polite in my real car but I didn't want to get to a point where the better drivers were shaking their heads.
Yeah I am 33 years old with two kids so no I am not a kid.. :D

I will ask the wife if I can go since she is my social secretary. :D

Cool! Hope you can make it out...Bring the family...We have room for camping out too! Naw..If you run sportsman, it's kind of expected you may get in the way...That's what sportsman do. (I run sportsman, I should know!)...That's why I run sportsman...I don't want to get it the way of the really good guys!

Again, hope you can make it out. Feel free to drop by our site and browse around the forum area...It's a real good bunch of people at the track, and it's a non-profit organization that runs the track, so we all kind of work together, or at least that's the concept!

Hey Mike,
Do I need ROAR membership for the race. I can send it in right away or can I simply fill out a form at the track? I wasn't sure if I needed it and i haven't joined as of yet. :D

I have been to the Rescue track a few times. It is a great time. Nice people and well run. I have never had to show my ROAR membership there. If you are camping there, expect to be dirty. The track and parking lot is red clay. It is really dusty and turns everything red. I would suggest a hotel room or motorhome/camping trailer.

Expert/Sportsman comment: Sometimes people who run in the expert class think they are expert when really they are not. If you check their race results, some of the sportsman put in more laps than the experts do.

Thanks for the input Skeeno!

Skeeno is right, the track area can be dusty, although the issue is a bit less than in past. This year, a good portion of the dirt area (Non track area, of coarse) has been covered in gravel, so the dust isn't as bad, and a lot of the clay is now covered, although not all of it. But, it is a large dirt area, and you will need a shower when you get done, if not after one day, definetely after two!

As for ROAR, no, ROAR is not required at Rescue, so there is no need to join specifically for this race.

And, once again, Skeeno was right on about the classes, although I think this may be true at a lot of classes...It could also be said that some running Sportsman are sandbagging and should be running expert! I think the problem is people are sued to running at "their" track, and performing at a level in comparison to the others they race...Then they go to another track that is filled with drivers that are different. "Experts" at one track are "Sportsman" at another type of thing...

You can signup online, then send the payment in w/the confirmation e-mail, and you'll be set.

I have been up to rescue a couple of times. It is a good time, just make sure to bring food and drinks. You guys have a nice dirt oval track too...Nice to hear the offroad track has been worked on, when I was there it was in REALLY rough shape. It really took a toll on my T4 and GT...broken shock towers, shock shafts...I decided to play on the oval track for the remainder of the day!

The offroad track is definately good sized, and was alot of fun. Now that its been maintained, I am tempted to make the trip...especially with the MF influence!

ofnaDOMINATION!

Scoobie - Yea, usually at the beginning of the year, the track is kind of rough from the winter...We work it, but it takes some time to get it into shape, and we've been short on track help, so we could only get done what we could get done! But, the track is in great shape now, and we'll be working on it for the next two weeks getting it ready for the Harvest. I know there are others from your area coming down to run the Harvest. And, yes, our oval is pretty darn nice... Next year, we are going to be having several "Big" races on the oval also...This year, we had a DODC race, but we're planning something bigger for next year...Should be fun.

Ofna - Yes..We do have good weather, most of the time...80 degrees today in Sacramento. Will be the same all week, maybe getting up to 85 by the end of the week...But, within a few months, we'll be cold too...Of course, by cold, I mean in the low 40's. :) That's one thing that's nice about Rescue..It's usually REALLY nice around the end of Sept, so we usually have great weather for the race...

Look at the bright side though, you don't have earthquakes or the cost of living we do!

Hey Mike, I just saw over on www.rcnation.com that you guys have a low pre-entry for the truggy class. Just found out that I cant make it, and I would have been running a truggy, but a bunch of the Butte Co. guys are bringing truggys, so dont kill off the class yet! Alot of the hardcore Paradise racers will be there....Beware of Bryan Romo!

I plan on making the Harvest next year for sure, and I am putting together a couple of cars (electric and nitro trucks) strictly for dirt oval, so those big oval races sound really tempting...and now that Extreme is closed you guys are the only oval from the oregon border south...sucks for me, cause the drive to Rescue is twice as far!

Sorry to hear you can't make it...The Truggy class didn't get cut. I knew it would make it, and wasn't going to cut it anyway..There are a LOT of Production Monster Trucks running, and I'm sure there are some in there that should be in Truggy, and, like you said, there will be a lot of guys showing up with Truggy's, so, it will be a full class I'm sure.

As for Romo, he don't scare me! :) He's a push over!

If you pre-entered on-line, do me a favor and shoot me a PM or something on the rescue site (www.rescuerc.com) so that I can pull you from the entrants.

Thanks! And, hopefully we'll at least see you around next year for those oval races!

Mike
