News:

Quote from Derek:
September competition:
Since you guys are putting the time and effort in, I'm going to try and make this happen this month. In our next issue (December 2005) I'm going to make the Custom Works Colum feature the bodies in these paint contest. I might not be able to feature them all, but I want to try and get them in there as inspriration.

Now I can't promise this as 100% yet, because I do have a planned article, but I think it would be cool to show our readers of the print magazine your hard work on line."RC411 Paint Competition!"
Quote for page 25 of spet issue:
"Think that you can paint? Most of us can barely get two colors to match, but some of you can throw down a paint scheme that could be right at home on a church ceiling. So we want to see if you have got what it takes by entering our new monthly painting contest on our website. Check out the forums and hit up the painting section for guidelines and rules. The winner will be featured here [the mag] and win a free 6 month subscription of XRC!"
Quote from Derek:
"Don't forget that you guys still need to send the pictures in to our Racer Ride section. You can win a year subscription and some other junk like a Tee Shirt and XXX Main Video if you're pick the winner of the month."

"Send all Racers' Rides pics to derekb@rc411.com. Put "Racers' Rides" in the subject line."

Sorry about this, but the winner of last months comp is not in the november issue, because Derek was out of the country and could not get it in the magizine.

Winners:

June/July Best Paint:
RCpaint or Keith Harris from Scotia, NY!!!!!!

I just picked up this used Maverick Pan Car on Friday, before installing a motor and electronics I panted this body. The unpainted body was thrown in with the deal, it is a Proto-Form Dodge Intrepid (I think). The paints used were Parma FasKolor Flourescent Yellow, Flourescent Green, Green, Black, White and Beige, The border on the flames is Spaz Stiks Mirror Chrome. The only decals are the headlights, taillights, window net, window air scoops, front grill and the small dodge emblem on the hood. I am a sucker for skulls and this skull with the Ram horns kinda reminded me of the Dodge Ram logo. So what do think?

Hi,

Paints: I used only Parma's Faskolors, No repainted labels or stickers beside the ones that are supplied with the Protoform body.
Superman figure and lightning are completely painted by me (See my signature on the side of the painted body), using Manco masking tape only.
The dark blue color is very similar to the original dark blue Mazda's color by having mixture colors of blue and black.
The body is Mazda 6 (200mm) manufactured by Protoform.
The inspiration came from my son who likes very much Superman movies.

I hope you liked it because this car "flies" on the racing truck.

Do I have to plac this pictures some where else beside here?
Gabby.

Yeah I give a two thumbs up for HRP to take the time to get this going..
Believe me I have a long way to go. Cutting out printer graphics is one thing, but doing free hand work like the rams skull is much harder. I need to get my equipment dialed in better. I am practicing now on paper for my next paint job. It should be really out of this world..
HR Gigers alien will be the insperation.

Noproblem Gabby.. Yeah I like the fact there is a lot of interaction between the painters. I would love it id Douge Summers and some other folks would get involved too. I know they run businesses, and for folks like RCPAINT they are competition, but in the end this is about the art. Hope to see some more killer paint jobs posted soon.. :D

I agree with DSILVER668, it is all about the fun. I like painting as much if not more than running my RC cars and trucks. In the Northeast if you dont run carpet in the Winter, you dont run, so painting is another way to pass the long Winter months and keep involved in RC.

There are some seriously great looking bodies posted this month! Thank Y'all for sharing your hard work, and great ideas! I would like to submit my Porsche "Lemans" GT-1 for this month's contest.
I've used all "Faskolor" paints for this project. Starting with a bit of pearl black shading fading into violet on the front. The body was then coated with scrabbeus flip. Starting in the rear, I've used violet, fading into fluorescent blue, into sky blue, then back into fluorescent blue, into the violet in front. I've used fluorescent orange on the edges of that series of stripes fading into a fluorescent yellow center. The green stripes are done with pearl green edges fading into teal, then into fluorescent green...then finally fluorescent yellow to finish. The front of the car has a thin coat of color change blue then white (x2) under it all to give the fluorescent paints that 'pop' white always provides. I've coated it with a medium coat of "Faskoat" to finish it out. <-That stuff makes it easier to clean the body from slick dust, etc. as well as keeping it solvent resistant...just in case...τΏτ=
This HPI Porsche GT-1 body is mounted on my Associated TC-4 chassis, and seems to sit quite low. Even though it's a 200mm body it looks Okay to me..it also seems to handle a little better with such a low center of gravity. Keeps the 'hackers' from T-Boning my electrics so hard at the track a bit better too(?). I also love the two piece rear spoiler with this kit, as I'm able to match the stripes both top and bottom. I've used RIT dye on the Pro Line "Gumby" wheels -Thanks for the cool 'dye trick'!- I've also made the roof scoop functional, to help provide more cool air -without 'tire bugers'- to my Trinity cooling fan, in hopes of a little more power, longer run times, and less comm/brush maintenance. Thanks for all of the great tips and tricks in your magazine! Without them..and the many great pix, this paint work wouldn't be remotely possible. I must admit, this contest also motivates me to try a little bit harder than I otherwise might be inclined to...τΏτ-Smile-
Thanks again,

It is a crowd pleazer for the traxxas rustler. I called it Sassy-Sadie. I painted it for my mom's rustler. It represents the two things she loves in life her dog.....Sadie......and her rustler.....Sassy-Sadie. The paint is Fastpearl Key Lime and Rasberry. I used XXX lexan glue and color copies of the dog I made from the 1000's of pictures she has of her dog. Hope you guys like it.

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and thought I'd give this months contest a shot.

This is my Traxxas Revo that I put toghether to try my hand at racing locally this year. Being a basher at heart I really wanted to try my hand at something a little more competitive.Growing up around custom cars and hot rods has seemed to rub off in wanting all of my rides to stand out in a crowd or on the race track.

I chose a Parma X-Citer body and used all Faskolor paints. Liquid masking and over nine different colors were used including Faslucent yellow, blue, purple, orange, Faspearl gold, Faspearl white, Faspearl silver and Faschange violet all backed with Faskrome satin and coated with Faskoat to protect it from fuel and scratches.

Click and enlarge to see detail...

If I need to include anything else, please let me know.

This is My Street Force GP2
I just got into this about a year ago and after reading XRC for a while I have really got into this. I own now 5 Rc cars and My wife hate em!. But hey this is way fun. I have a natural art talent so this allows me to be creative. Sooner or later I will get into something wild. but for this being my first try I was rather happy with it.
This is a Protoform Mazda 6
Painted with pactra Neon Green, Outlaw Black and Hybrid Purple
I used a Spaz Stix mask from the 7 Deadly sins set called Greed
and layed it out with decals from XXXMain, JaDesigns.com, OS and XRC
Other things include changing a couple of the car things to Bling it out. and a couple of performance products because what is the case of making it pretty if it isnt pretty fast too!

Well I listed my first car so I finally finished my second one and decided to post it too.. This is my DuraTrax Evader ST.
Not much to the features because you are only limited to so much with DuraTrax
It the basic Crowd Pleazer Evader body with Pactra paints and The Spaz Stix mask
color kits by DuraTrax and a couple of upgrades. It's kinda hard to tell but the paint is actually sharp on the body, it seems that the Neon green is a bit over powering so it kinda is gleaming giving it a hazy look.

I'm picking this as the winner, anybody that can get a picture of their dog into a cool paint job is okay in my book.
